On the first day of the new year 2019, the Modi government has given cheaper cooking gas cylinders (LPG cylinders) cheaper to the common people. The price of subsidized LPG gas cylinder has been cut by Rs. 5.91 and the cost of non-subsidized cylinders has been reduced to Rs. 120.50. New prices are effective from January 1. Earlier, on December 1, the prices of LPG cylinders were cut. Now the price of subsidized 14.2 kg cylinder is 494.99 rupees. Earlier this price was 500.90 rupees.

The price of non-subsidized cylinders has been reduced by Rs 120.50. Now the price of 14.2 kg cylinder has gone up to 689 rupees. Prior to this, prices were cut on December 1. At that time the subsidized LPG cylinder was cheaper at Rs 6.52, while the market value of the LPG cylinder without subsidy was reduced by Rs 133. After the price cut, the price of gas cylinder of 14.2 kg subsidy in Delhi was 500.90 rupees.

Prices are continuously decreasing due to the reduction of crude oil prices in the international market. LPG's average international benchmark rate and LPG cylinders are fixed as per the foreign exchange rate, depending on which the subsidy amount changes every month. In such a situation, when international prices rise, the government gives more subsidy and when the prices are low, subsidies are cut.
